About Tran Terra

"Pneumatic Staplers Revolutionizing the Industry"

A Familiar Sight
“Over the years, I’ve driven my share of highway miles; seeing the familiar sight of Erosion Control Blanket (ECB)” says Sam Herrmann, CEO of Environmental Control Systems, Inc in Pelican Rapids, MN. “I had often wondered how the fabric was held in place until the plants took hold to prevent washouts, etc. Once I understood the 6” staples were manually fastened, I knew there was an opportunity to enter the erosion control market with a user-friendly fastener.”

“With the turn of the economy a year and a half ago; the doors of the ethanol business began to close and I decided to begin looking into a staple fastener.”

Re-creating the “Wheel”?
The design and proto-typing were in process for the staplers but the unit still would need a driving force. Now the question, do we “re-create the wheel” and build our own drive unit or take this to the next level? Sam contacted the Hustler Turf Corporation, otherwise known as Excel Industries.

Fastening Solutions For the Erosion Control Industry
"Many of the contractors joke that their worst days are installation days". "Manually fastening ECB is labor intensive; on the average, an employee can fasten approximately 3,000 staples in an 8 hour day. However, equipped with an Ingersoll Rand Rotary Screw Compressor, Two Stapler Heads, an IQAN Computer System (which gives contractors the capability of programming staple patterns), and Doppler Shift Radar; one Tran Terra™ Pneumatic Stapler is capable of fastening in excess of 56,000 staples in a day. Easily maneuvering a 2:1 slope, this riding unit is will make your labor intensive jobs less frustrating."

Upon presenting the Tran Terra™ design to the corporation, the company agreed to partner with Environmental Control Systems, Inc. The Hustler Turf 3000 Series will be the driving unit for the Tran Terra™.

Utilizing a Multipurpose Unit Distributes Your Dollars Farther
The Hustler™ drive unit not only operates the staplers, it also operates multiple attachments which may be beneficial to your company. Of the many attachments available, some of the more popular are the mower decks, rotary broom, rear catcher, mulch kit, beacon kit, tire chain kit, and snow blower & blade. Need to get out of natures elements? Hustler Turf also offers canopies and cabs to handle the heat and cold.

The Tran Terra™ 4M1, the pneumatic stapling walk-behind unit, is powered by an unattached air compressor, has one stapler head, a Parker Hannifin manually actuated valve (allowing the operator control of staple location), while conveniently carrying one box of 2000 Tran Terra staples on the unit. You walk, push a button, and fasten ECB all at once”.

Avoid Product Failure
Proper installation of ECB will provide longer protection than default cover; lowering the chances of product failure. With the ease of proper installation, avoid the expense involved with re-grading and reseeding due to rework.
